A Legacy of Giving,
A Vision for Tomorrow
A family-driven foundation dedicated to uplifting communities and empowering those who make our region thrive.

  Our History

The Moore family has been rooted in Central Florida for 6 generations and have been committed members of the Central Florida community for nearly 100 years. From 1969-1984, Lee P Moore, our beloved father and grandfather, served as the mayor of Sanford, FL, which cemented a family legacy of giving back to others. In 2023, the Moore family decided to formalize their commitment to their community through the formation of the Big Nova Foundation

The Spark

For the Moores giving back has always been important. But, in 2011, supporting pediatric healthcare became personal. Their loved one’s brave battle with leukemia inspired a deep passion for funding research and championing young patients.

Expanding the Vision

The sale of Sunniland provided the means to make an even bigger difference. They created Big Nova to formalize their giving, focusing their energy on the place they’ve always called home.

Big Nova is dedicated to preserving Florida’s natural wonders for future generations to enjoy. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, we work tirelessly to protect the diverse ecosystems, wildlife habitats, and unique landscapes that make Florida such a special place.

We are dedicated to uplifting the less fortunate members of our community by providing essential support and resources. From food assistance programs to housing initiatives and beyond, we stand in solidarity with those facing adversity, offering a helping hand and a beacon of hope in their time of need. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need
it most.

Strengthening the foundations of our communities is central to our work. By investing in local infrastructure, education, and economic development programs, we empower residents to build stronger, more resilient communities. Together, we strive to create opportunities for growth, foster a sense of belonging, and enhance the quality of life for all Floridians.

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to championing pediatric health and research initiatives across Florida. Through our support of hospitals, clinics, and medical research facilities, we aim to improve access to quality healthcare for children, advance medical breakthroughs, and ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
